ROCKER-U SK8RSITES:
"Not quite a WebSITE, but much more than a WebPAGE!"
Introducing Rocker-U Sk8rSites - a zero-cost way for world-class USA skaters to cultivate new fans, market fundraising merchandise, and attract sponsors and funding for their training.
This is a 'pilot program', and is currently open to active skaters who have competed at the World Cup or Senior World Championship level - and who do not currently have their own website. If space is available, it may be opened up to additional skaters later.
Sk8rSites are intended to function (as much as possible) like a stand-alone website - but you should understand that there are some upsides and some downsides.
The primary upside is that there is absolutely no cost to the skater. Domain name renewals and web hosting normally cost roughly $150 per year, plus time charges for your web designer (for the initial setup and for changes and updates). Because Sk8rSites are embedded within my already-existing website, there is no additional charge to me, and no domain name/hosting fees to the skater.
The downside? Your Sk8rSite will look very much like Rocker-U.net - and very much like every other Sk8rSite. I'm using a 'template' - meaning that it's less work for me (which is why I choose to do this for free), but it also means less opportunity for customization.
That being said, I love being 'stretched'. Don't be afraid to ask if we can change something - if I can learn something new, it benefits everyone!
